Systematic, Sequential Vocabulary Development
Wordly Wise 3000 Books A, B, C (Grades 2–4)
For primary-grade students, the Wordly Wise 3000 A, B, C series helps them learn 300 new vocabulary words through interesting and enjoyable exercises. As they read the words in context, apply their meanings to different situations, and respond to reading comprehension questions in sentences, the students make the words their own.
The exercises give students practice in recognizing the words and their meanings in different contexts. In addition to asking students to match the words with their definitions, the exercises include identifying categories and applying the meanings of the words.
Teachers will find the Wordly Wise 3000 A, B, C series an excellent way to help their beginning readers build their reading vocabularies at the same time that they strengthen their reading, critical thinking, and writing skills.
Wordly Wise 3000 Books 1–9 (Grades 4–12)
This popular vocabulary series presents 3,000 words selected from literature, textbooks, and the SATs.
Each 15-word lesson begins with an alphabetized Word List that gives pronunciations, parts of speech, and concise definitions, and uses each word in a sentence. Engaging sentences provide a mnemonic anchor for the word.
Exercises in each lesson encourage students to apply word meanings, think critically, and discover word relationships. Narratives representing a variety of content areas are featured in each lesson and allow students to experience words in context.
